UPDATED: ok, so, I took a little break from the knitting and am starting for the 3rd time. Wish me luck!

Last night I had to start the sweater over because I casted on for a medium and I am making a large. I pulled everything out. Then, this morning I was working on it and the stitches weren’t adding up. ‘sigh’ I didn’t knit in four stitches at the beginning of the first row and now need to start over again. I could un-knit the last two rows, but there are so many stitches that it would probably take less time to just start over. This wouldn’t be so annoying if I wasn’t doing the tubular cast-on. Oy vey!

Wow.  I’m really glad it’s Friday, even thought this week has gone by really fast.  You know what?  I have realized lately that I am a morning person.  Even though I don’t want to be.  I wake up pretty early, even on the weekends.  I feel better in the morning.  I feel really positive about the day until about 11:30.  And if I haven’t been doing anything, I feel lazy after that.  The morning has all the possibility of a great and eventful, exciting day.  I love the feeling.

I am starting on a new knitting project.  I’m very excited.  Putting the Scrap Yarn Square Blanket Project on hold for a bit.  Maybe more than a bit.  I got a wonderful new book the other day, Sensual Knits. I wanted to make the jacket on the cover, love the puff sleeves, but I’m not sure about the belt and the buttons…Oh the buttons.  Horror.

Instead, I will be knitting this (pictured at right).  And, I’m making it too big so it won’t be so fitted and crazy.  I must admit, I’m a little worried.  While this does look really cool in the pictures, tons of cables can tend to look really insane in person.  Let’s hope this doesn’t happen.  Because, when you knit something, even if it looks like shit on, you just grin and wear it at least twice.  Once to get it out there and the second time to make sure it looks really bad before you chuck it or unwind it.  I started last night and this is how far I got after more than an hour:

You know why?  Tubular cast-on, which I have never done and it is completely insane and takes forever and then the first row was, like, cabling every other stitch?!  Who writes a pattern like that?!  Crazy people, that’s who.  Even so, I am pushing forward.

Wish me luck, friends.

I am still feeling sick, like, you know when you are sick and you feel high even though you haven’t taken any medication?  That is how I feel.  So, I took 3 advils and 3 tylenols just to make sure that everything is covered.

I am just going to post pictures from my iPhone.  I downloaded this awesome app called ShakeItPhoto and it makes your pictures look like polaroids, not just with the white edging, but the pic looks all polaroidy as well.  It’s rad.

Ring Pop aweseomeness.  I bought some to put in the candy bowl at work.

Knitting at Justin & my 1 year anniversary dinner on Saturday.  Since I don’t write about knitting all that often, I like to take pictures of me actually knitting in public so you guys don’t think I’m slacking.

Sitting in traffic while wearing Gucci sunglasses.  I’ve had these for over 3 years.  I can’t keep the drugstore sunglasses in hand for more than a month.

Chico sleeping in the car

One of my extremely painful nights from last week.  Chico was being really sweet and was playing with my yarn.  I was throwing it at him, he didn’t just steal it (like those cats I have…grr)

Same night.  Trying to distract myself from the pain at 4:30am.  It worked.

Being cool.

Wow, it’s been two weeks of feeling sub par.

Two weeks ago, I slept on my neck wrong and was in extreme pain for a week and then got a cold and was down and out with that for

And here is Chico being really cute and sweet when I woke up at 4am feeling like someone stabbed me in the back...literally.

several days.  Then, I re-injured the neck.  Oh Em Geeeeeee, I didn’t know that it was possible to hurt myself so badly by just sleeping wrong.  Excruciating.  So painful that the doctor gave me narcotic pain medication and muscle relaxers, so I don’t remember much of last week.  Besides the pain, last week was kind of fun.  I think that me and the doctor and the massage therapist and the chiropractor have almost gotten my neck and shoulder and arm and ribs back to 100%.  And I got to have a massage for the first time.  It was really painful, but I felt a lot better after!   Now, I have another cold or maybe it is the same one.  I don’t even know anymore, ‘sigh.’

Chico and I have been arguing over Twitter again.  That little asshole snuck out of the backyard and ran down the street yesterday.  I just kind of stood in the backyard, dumbfounded, and hoped he would pop out of the ivy or something.  That didn’t happen.  One of my neighbors brought him back.  The same neighbor who came to my house two years ago to let me know Aravis got attacked by a dog.  She didn’t recognize me at all.  She actually proceeded to tell me about a girl who used to live in my house who had two cats and one got attacked by a dog.  I was like, “Hello!!  That’s me!”  She doesn’t recognize me.  At all.  I know the haircut is different, but geez.

So, I am wishing you all a happy Monday.  I am hoping to have one.  I’m a little stressed right now, so I am thinking positively.  Today is going to be good, today is going to be good, today is going to be good…

This is what I have been doing with for the last 30 minutes:

Yes.  I have made my pets argue with each other on Twitter.  And yes, it took 30 minutes.  I blame the pain meds. In my defense, Chico pooed on the floor inside 3 times today right after going outside to pee.  Three.  Also, Chico now has a Twitter account and you can follow him @Chico_Grace.  I can’t promise that his tweets will be anything worth reading.

UPDATE:  About 10 minutes after writing this, the little shithead (CHICO) took another dump on the floor right after going outside to pee.  Grr….

My friend Taryn P rocks your face off.  You know why?  Because she thinks I’m really cool…I know, I’m surprised as well.  And, she is really confused and thinks I have great style.  I used to have great style, but then I just had to do this thing called, move out on my own and get a job and be responsible with money.  Totally sucked.  And I have gained a little weight.  And I feel a little fat.  So, my really awesome clothes that are size extra, extra small are hidden in the back of my closet with that sparkly Sailor Moon costume I’ve been hanging on to since 11th grade.

Anyways, Taryn P rocks.  And her husband has a grizzly beard.

Oh yeah.  She also thinks I’m really cool because I knit in public all the time.  She might be the only person I know in real life who thinks this is awesome.  Except my other knitting friends.

We had little cheesecakes.

As you know, yesterday was Valentines Day and if you would believe it, I haven’t seriously celebrated it.  Ever.  (Other than my mom getting my red hots and passing out candies in grade school)  It was really nice.  I think I spent way too much energy hating and resisting Valentines Day for the past ten years.

Justin and I walked around my neighborhood, which we rarely ever do and that was really awesome.  We went to a bakery and got some valentines pastries.  I usually hate getting out and walking around and being active.  I’m lazy.  I’ll just say it.  I would much rather sit on my couch in front of the tv.  Like, sometimes, even though I have food to microwave, I would rather just be hungry than put in the effort to put the food in the microwave.  Yeah.  Forget cooking.  So, walking around the neighborhood was really nice.  I realized how close everything is.  There is a coffee shop just a 5 minute walk from my house!  And it’s great and it’s not Starbucks.  I really need to get out and walk around more.

We went to brunch and then sat around and I read and Justin watched TV.  It was a great low key day.

We went to PF Chang’s for dinner.  My favorite restaurant.  Seriously, if I could eat anywhere, I would want to eat there.  And, Justin even waited over an hour for a table.  For me.  It was soooo sweet.

Then we came home and watched (500) Days of Summer which was totally cute.

Did you do anything fun?  Or, maybe you don’t care and don’t celebrate?

UPDATE: It is actually snowing now.  And it’s sticking.  I took pictures for you.  It rarely ever knows in Atlanta, and when it does, it’s like 3 flurries and no sticking.

Chico wants to tell you someting

Snow hasn’t even hit the ground and Atlanta is already canceling flights.  Roomie went to the airport last night in hopes of getting on a plane. Her flight for this afternoon was already canceled.  Ridiculous.  And they keep saying “wintery mix.”  This means that it’s cold enough to sleet or snow, but they don’t know which so they have to use a term that makes them sounds knowledgeable.

In other news, I slept on my shoulder wrong on Monday night and this shit still hurts.  Like, bad.  I don’t want to go to the Chiropractor and spend a lot of money to have them massage it out and then adjust me and then I will have to go back for forever.  I used to work for a Chiropractor and I bet I could ask her to adjust me for free, but I don’t want to be that person.  Like, the person asking me to knit something for her for free.  Maybe we can barter in trade. Hmmm….Same thing with the doctor.  Spend money for him to tell me I have a cold (O, I’m sick too) and he can’t do anything.  And, that he won’t give me any muscle relaxers for my shoulder.  Even though I only want like 5.  I probably only need 2 or so, but 5 just in case.  ‘sigh’

I hate being sick and staying home from work.  Of course I like staying home, but when I’m sick it’s really boring. Especially if I’m too sick to knit.  Like yesterday.  But, I took some medicine and persisted through.  And, I am teaching myself Entrelac.

Here is a pic of what I have so far:

It's a knitting flag

And, entrelac isn’t as intense as it seems.  The first row was tough, but now I’m wondering where it’s been all my life.

Oh, also, if anyone in the Atlanta area would like to participate in the World Wide Knit in Public Day with me, please let me know.  I think this will be fun, but knitting in public by myself will be just like every other day.  And, I might be able to promise cookies if you come.  So, let me know.

Guess what, you guys?!!  I’m all caught up on LOST and was able to watch the newest episode with the rest of the world on ABC last night.  This is exciting for me.  (If you are worrying about me spoiling something, don’t. I’m not going to say anything about what happened, you can keep reading.)  I didn’t think I was going to make it because I thought I had three episodes to watch and I kept getting interrupted.  I had just enough time to watch 3 episodes before the new one.  BUT, there were only 2.  And now I’m really confused, but not confused like I normally am when I watch LOST.  Confused like, “I’m soooo tired of being this confused and who the hell are these people and why haven’t I see them before and why is she with them?!  What?!”  While I’m sad that this is the last season and all, I’m happy that I won’t have to feel so confused all the time.  Everything will be answered or it won’t.  And that will be that.

And, for those of you who feel sad and left out because you are lame and don’t watch LOST, telling people you “got lost watching LOST” is not original.  It’s annoying.  Just stop.  This is the 6th season.  Everyone’s heard that.  Come on! (And I will be happy to watch all 5 previous seasons with you and let you use my Netflix account.  So, you really have no excuse…you know who you are)

In other news, I finished knitting another scrap yarn square.  And, I took a picture for you.  So here you are and enjoy your Wednesday.

I know all of you probably don’t have a Sci-Fi, everything super natural (except Psychic Kids, he hates that) loving boyfriend.  But I do.  And there is this show on BBC America called Demons. And he loves it.

They are even more serious than the characters from "Roswell." No one smiles. Ever.

There is this boy (Luke) and he finds out that his dad (who died or something) was a Van Helsing (this means nothing to me, but apparently he has to fight the undead or spirits or something) and now he is a Van Helsing because his dad died. And he is supposed to be doing this with his uncle.  Who apparently, isn’t a Van Helsing, even though he is his father’s brother.  I’m confused too.

Ok, so Luke is like 16 or 17 or something.  And he is never home, he’s always at karate or killing evil spirits and getting home at 5 am and his mom is just like “whatever” and she asks him one time if he is on drugs.  This woman needs to get on top of it, but she doesn’t care because Luke is reminding her of his father, who, remember, is dead.  From demon killing.  Lady, get with it.  Duh.

So, Luke has a friend, Ruby, who has no special powers and isn’t related to anyone special, yet she gets to be in the demon killing club even though she usually causes people to get shot (ok, I’ve only seen Demons a couple of times, but she almost got people shot).  And, she’s like in love with Luke, which is a big impediment on the whole group because she’s a lovesick 16 year old.  Yeah, they’re annoying.

One of the demon fighters is blind.  And psychic.  And a vampire.  But, she drains all of her blood, so she doesn’t feel the need to drink blood.  My question is, how is she getting blood in her body if she is undead and isn’t drinking any blood?  And, I’m pretty sure that vampires need blood to live, it’s their food, duh, and so she should die because she doesn’t eat.  Did I mention she’s psychic and blind?  She’s blind because she doesn’t drink blood or drains her own or something.  And she doesn’t have any super strength powers like vampires are supposed to.  So, I hate this character.

Oh!!  One of Luke’s mentors is a zombie priest.  A Zombie Priest!!!! He exhales flies when he sleeps.  I can’t make this stuff up, you guys.  This is seriously on TV.  And people watch it.  That’s the scary part.

Also, one time they fought a character that was a rat man, but he looked like a rat.  All the time.  And this isn’t Gotham City or something where it’s normal to have people looking like freaks running around.  It’s London.  That shit isn’t acceptable.

Obviously, this show sucks and I know way too much about it.  My concerns are because comes on BBC America, this show must be HUGE in England.  This worries me.  Have you noticed that every show out of the BBC seems to have something to do with space, the future, demons or spies?  And these are the really successful shows.  Just sayin’.  They are trying to raise a super race of really paranoid people with interesting accents (I would say cool, but just like in America, all dialects aren’t that great).

In case you’re wondering, yes.  I am embarrassed at how much I know about this show.

Show me you love me

I hope you like Knit in Public…it’s fun and you make the coolest friends
